Greg Ferrara serves as Program Manager for the Geospatial Analytics and Decision Management group at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. His interests include the application of visual analytics, business intelligence and informatics to help non-technical folks improve critical business decisions. Greg holds a B.A. in Visual Communications and an M.A. in Geography from the University of South Florida.

Matt Kuliani is an IT Systems Administrator for the Geospatial Analytics and Decision Management group at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Matt is responsible for website development, administration, training, webinars, documentation, and application development assistance, and is the point of contact for all COVERLAB help and support. He received his B.S. in Environmental Technology and Management in 2013.

Aleem Mohammed serves as the in-house Data Analytics and Systems Lead at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at NC State University in Raleigh, NC. Experienced in data analytics and business intelligence for over two decades, Aleem leverages Enterprise Performance Management and Business Intelligence tools to extract actionable insights from complex data sets. He’s skilled in Data Warehouses, ETL, Data Staging, Scripting & Scheduling, Reporting, Dashboards & Analytics tools. Aleem is dedicated to enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of statewide traffic safety planning by utilizing data-driven analytics, research, and education to support clients involved in sponsored programs. He’s passionate about turning data into products, actionable insights and meaningful stories. Aleem holds a Master’s in Computer Engineering from Western Michigan University.
Tanner Nelson

Tanner Nelson is a Data Analytics Developer at the Institute for Transportation Research and Education at North Carolina State University. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (May 2022) and a Master’s of Science in Business Analytics (May 2024) from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Tanner is experienced in ETL automation scripting and dashboard development. He also has a background in statistical analysis, utilizing software such as R, SAS, and Python for data modeling, hypothesis testing, and predictive analytics. Tanner has a strong interest in machine learning and its capabilities to automate decision-making processes, uncover hidden patterns in data, and drive innovation across the transportation industry.
Jay Bowen

Jay Bowen serves as a GIS Developer within the Geospatial Analytics and Decision Management Group (GADA) at NC State University’s Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE), where he designs, develops, and maintains interactive web mapping applications and spatial data infrastructure to support traffic safety and data-driven decision-making initiatives. Collaborating closely with state agencies like the NC Department of Transportation, his role involves building custom geospatial solutions, maintaining map servers, managing complex spatial data governance, and troubleshooting cross-network browser security and API integrations. He acts as a key technical liaison, translating spatial data into accessible dashboards and public-facing applications while ensuring robust data sharing and infrastructure reliability across collaborative state and university projects.
