W.I.R.E.D. (Working Interstates Reducing Electronic Distractions)

The W.I.R.E.D. campaign focuses on Working Interstates and Reducing Electronic Distractions while driving a commercial motor vehicle. The CVE section of the NCSHP will strive to meet this goal of reducing distracted driving collisions by placing an emphasis on NAS Level III inspections. This type of inspection will provide the highest rate of visibility in these high crash corridors.

D.R.I.V.E. (Distracted Reckless Impaired Visibility Enforcement)

Operation D.R.I.V.E. a high visibility, multi-state traffic enforcement effort on interstate corridors from North Carolina to Florida that is designed to eliminate traffic fatalities by reducing crashes involving large trucks, buses, and passenger vehicles.

During select time periods, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol will participate in Operation D.R.I.V.E. and will partner with the South Carolina State Transport Police, Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division, Florida Highway Patrol, and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. Operation D.R.I.V.E. is a blitz project that will provide high visibility enforcement with the primary goal of changing unsafe driver behavior.

The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Resource Lab (Coverlab) and Geographic Information System (GIS) maps have been utilized to identify and track CMV crash trends on all of the selected interstate corridors.
